Here at Tröegs, we’re all about finding fellow Pennsylvania makers and working together to come up with great new flavor experiences. Last year, we collaborated with Pittsburgh’s Wigle Whiskey to create Pennsylvania Peach Whiskey. We’re happy to bring back this delicious creation for a second year, and we’re gonna lay it out there for you… this sweet and juicy spirit is all about peaches!
Pennsylvania Peach starts with Wigle’s made-from-scratch whiskey distilled from regionally grown organic wheat grain. For four years, the folks at Wigle aged the whiskey in new charred oak barrels. To achieve an added layer of complexity, they then transferred it to barrels that once housed our Freaky Peach Pennsylvania Sour Ale. After resting for nearly three months, the whiskey was steeped with 220 pounds of dried peaches and apricots. So, think of this as a “twice-barreled” whiskey!
With notes of fresh peach, papaya, dark caramel, and a hint of nutmeg, Pennsylvania Peach is a sweet way to sip through the rest of the summer.
“What a joy to create a unique spirit unlike anything else in the state,” said Wigle distiller Rachel Bateman. “We are so proud of how this year’s batch turned out!”
“The folks at Wigle are super-nice,” says Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother, John Trogner. “I like their creative culture and that they’re making great-tasting spirits with Pennsylvania ingredients. You can’t get much better than that!”
As with the previous year’s release, $1 from each bottle sold will benefit Feeding Pennsylvania and its mission of connecting food-insecure Pennsylvanians with surplus from local farms.
Pick up a bottle of this unique collaboration starting Thursday, August 25. You can order Pennsylvania Peach for pick-up in Pittsburgh at either Wigle Whiskey location or snag a bottle at a special pop-up event at our brewery on Thursday, September 1, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. While you’re here, we’ll also be serving a tasty PA Peach-infused iced tea and lemonade cocktail we’ve dubbed the “Peachy Palmer”.
