It takes a long time to plant, raise, pick, slice, clean and roast 3,000 pounds of Pennsylvania longneck pumpkins. But Master of Pumpkins has arrived!

The very first step in this year’s batch happened earlier this summer, when our friends at Strites’ Orchard – less than 10 miles from our brewery – seeded their pumpkin patch. The Pennsylvania longneck pumpkins they grow for us are a hearty heirloom variety that tastes similar to butternut squash and can weigh up to 20 pounds each.

We took 3,000 pounds of the freshly harvested longnecks. Our kitchen team then de-stemmed and roasted the whole lot before handing them off to our brewers. The puree goes right into the mash tun!

Subtly spiced with cinnamon, clove, ginger and nutmeg, Master of Pumpkins isn’t easy or quick. But we strongly believe it’s worth the wait!

We taste: nutmeg, cinnamon, caramel and vanilla bean.

A limited batch of Master of Pumpkins 16-oz. cans is releasing at Tröegs on Mon/Sept. 28. It will be available wherever Tröegs is sold over the next couple of weeks.
