We know that summer’s still heating up, but fall is on the horizon. And with the changing seasons comes another beer in our rotating seasonal series. Nestled between fan-favorites Field Study and Blizzard of Hops, Hopora IPA returns for its second year to usher in the fall season!

Brewed as a tribute to the hop spirit for a bountiful crop, Hopora showcases the radiant tropical fruit and citrus notes of Solero hops.

“To me, Hopora captures the best of both IPA worlds – West Coast and hazy,” says our brewmaster John Trogner. “It’s got just the right amount of bitterness that rolls into tropical aromas with notes of mango and passionfruit. Plus, it’s super tasty and the name is fun to say… HOPORA!!!”

Like many of our recent beers, we developed Hopora through our 3-barrel “Scratch Lab” brew system. Our friends at BrauKon designed this 3-barrel nano brewery to replicate the temperature controls, pressure and geometry of our larger 15-barrel Scratch system and 100-barrel production brewhouse.

“The Scratch Lab allows us to experiment and get even more granular with recipes,” says Trogner. “We can test different hop combinations and yeast strains side-by-side, which we couldn’t do with our larger Scratch brewhouse.”

And that’s exactly how we developed the final recipe for Hopora!

Built on a backbone of pale malt, oats, and wheat, Hopora IPA clocks in at 6.2% ABV. Citra and Chinook hops – two of our favorites! – round out the hop bill with supporting notes of grapefruit rind and subtle pine.

The label art for Hopora was designed by longtime Tröegs collaborator, Lindsey Tweed, the Philadelphia-based graphic designer responsible for our extensive label art refresh back in 2015.

“I was inspired by life at a subatomic level,” says Tweed. “It’s constantly moving and bursting with energy.” The playful design features four hops that stretch and divide away from each other, creating a soft abstract “H” to suggest not only the beer’s defining ingredient but also the name of the beer itself. The round, organic shapes suggest slices of fruit and juicy droplets and provide flavor cues for what’s to come.

Hopora IPA is available on draft and in 12oz. bottles and cans everywhere our beer is sold. Use our Brew Finder to snag some near you.

And watch for Hopora alongside three other Tröegs beers – Pennsylvania’s #1-selling craft beer Perpetual IPA, Graffiti Highway IPA, and Oktoberfest Lager – in the forthcoming Perpetual Exploration variety pack for the fall season.
